No backlog for Alberton service delivery area

A Mayberry Park resident was reportedly told that there is a service delivery backlog for the Alberton area. EMM spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, disputed this claim.

ALBERTON – The RECORD received a report from a Mayberry Park resident about a water leak in Moepel Street on Friday, August 21.

When alerting the municipality to the problem, the resident was reportedly told that the Alberton service delivery department was experiencing a backlog of reports and would only be able to attend to the problem once July’s reports had been resolved.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, stated that the leak was underneath a tree which required the assistance of the Parks Department to remove the tree before the leak could be repaired.

“There is no backlog on water complaints in the Alberton service delivery area. Since January almost 4 000 complaints have been completed, 96 percent within the service standard of 48 hours.”
