Man hangs himself in storeroom

His brother and sisters were still in shock and were evidently traumatised by their brother’s suicide.

EDEN PARK – A 29-year-old man from Eden Park committed suicide by hanging himself in a storeroom on Monday, October 19, while his siblings and girlfriend were asleep in the same house.

His brother and sisters were still in shock and were evidently traumatised by their brother’s suicide.

“This whole thing took us by surprise. We did not expect such a thing from our brother. He has a son with his girlfriend and they always seem so happy. He was with her on Sunday night. What is strange is that he left his girlfriend in bed during the early hours of Monday, went into the storeroom and hanged himself without saying a word to her. All he left was a little note which does not explain why he hanged himself,” said the traumatised brother.

When the RECORD spoke to one of his sisters, all she could say was: “Why did he do this? He was happy, had a job and loved his son very dearly”.

The deceased’s brother believes that the man was in a very happy mood the whole Sunday afternoon and evening before the suicide. “He went around taking pictures with everyone and just giving hugs. Nobody suspected anything and he never said anything about committing suicide.”

The brother later informed the RECORD that a note was found by the deceased’s girlfriend. In the note he asked his son to forgive him for doing what he did and to know that he loved him dearly. He further asked the family to forgive him and thanked his girlfriend for loving him and for her support throughout their relationship.

The deceased was laid to rest on Saturday, October 24.
