Water leaking everywhere and not a drop to drink

A pipe in a storm drain has reportedly been leaking water for four months.

ALRODE – A water leak in Alrode has residents questioning the commitment of local government to finding a solution to water wastage during a national drought.

Clive Page reported a water leak to the RECORD that he claims has been ongoing for the last four months. A broken pipe inside a storm drain, on Basalt Street in Alrode in front of a business, has been leaking clear water that appears to be drinkable.

The business owner reportedly called the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) hotline number and received a reference number for the complaint but says that no one has come out to fix the pipe.

Page told the RECORD that he intends to sit down with town planners, electrical and mechanical engineers from the city to ask for answers to questions he has concerning the water infrastructure in the metro.

The EMM was approached for comment but none had been received at the time of publishing.
