Water wasted for seven years

Frustrated Eden Park homeowner reports that the water pipe supplying his house has been leaking for seven years.

EDEN PARK – Since 2008 the water pipe supplying the house at 9 Abraham Street in Eden Park, has been leaking.

“In 2008 I was working for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) when the leak started. I immediately reported it to the relevant office. Workers arrived two weeks later, looked at the little pond and left, never to return,” says Richard Jacobs (56), owner of the house.

“We are trying our best to save water and use it sparingly but the council is just wasting clean water with a leak that could have been fixed seven years ago. I can’t imagine how many litres of water have been wasted! I hope the council will come and fix it if it is published.”

“The irony is that Rand Water and EMM are urging consumers to use water sparingly while they allow gallons of litres to go to waste,” Jacobs added.
