EKURHULENI – The DA in Ekurhuleni has labelled the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mondli Gungubele, a ‘misleader’ on one of the placards they raised in the council chambers.
Considering the continued debates around the appointment of the City Manager earlier this year, the DA has also printed more posters stating, ‘Hamba Khaya’ and ‘Stop illegal meetings’.
The EMPD has been deployed to the chambers as the council meeting is temporarily adjourned.
It is understood that the EMPD were originally deployed to escort Members of Provincial Legilature, Paul Willemburg and Ashor Sarupen, after Willemburg was spotted to be recording the proceedings.
When councillors returned to the chamber it is believed that DA councillors were escorted out by EMPD.
The speaker of council, Clr Patricia Kumalo said that the picketing in council, she further said, “I have never called EMPD in before but today was necessary.”
