No end to her kindness

Fanny Wilson has made it her mission to feed the community of Edenpark and there is no end in sight to her resourcefullness.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Ten years ago, Sister Fanny Wilson (58) started a community vegetable garden on a vacant stand in Edenpark. She started supplying families with vegetables and three years later she started the Lighthouse Community Centre where families receive cooked meals and fresh vegetables every Wednesday.

About 250 women and children benefit from Wilson’s soup kitchen as well. The centre obtained a non-profit registration certificate in April 2014. At the same time that the Lighthouse Centre was established, Wilson also started a church, the Child Evangelist Fellowship, as a space where children can worship before meals are served.
