A SUSPECT has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman from Phola Park.
He appeared in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 11.
Investigating officer Det-Const Hlengani Matebula received the inquest docket regarding a woman who had been found murdered in a shack in Thinasonke settlement, in Phola Park, on Sunday, January 3.
Forensic investigators determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The deceased had been locked inside the shack for two days before neighbours alerted the authorities.
The boyfriend of the deceased had fled the scene on January 1 after he, by his own admission, hit her with a brandy bottle, stabbed her in the back, covered her body in blankets and locked her inside the home.
The suspect was found in Vosloorus. Once he had been brought in for questioning, he confessed to the killing of his partner as well as to a previous murder in the North West province.
