ARIEL Street in Little Germiston is notorious for being a street with the most potholes in Eden Park. Many motorists avoid driving in this street because the speed limit can only be 10 or 20km/hour due to the numerous potholes from one end of the street to the other.
On Sunday, February 28 at 15:00 children playing in the street had to run for dear life when a speeding BMW vehicle came down the street. It is alleged by Makoe Robertson that the speeding driver drove into her brick wall and also that of her neighbour. “We called the police and the driver promised to repair the damaged walls and the gate. Rightfully so, he kept his promise because on Monday builders arrived to rebuild the walls and council workers repaired the broken water meter,” said Robertson, who was glad no child was run over.
The police claim they took blood samples from the driver because they suspected that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The injured passenger was rushed to hospital.
