Burglar leaves behind his possessions

“Neighbours and friends identified a short man who is also a resident on our street.”

A BURGLAR who broke into a house in Benz Street, Eden Park on Friday, April 1, stole the family’s monthly supply of meat but left behind his sandals and rucksack.

The owner of the house, who does not want to be named, alleged that the man first broke into their garage on Easter Monday, March 28, when they found the garage door open but could not see anything missing. They suspect that something disturbed him then and that he returned the following Friday to finish the job.

“On April 1, we heard the dogs barking at about 04:00 and went out to check thinking somebody might be breaking into our vehicles. That was when we saw a man jumping over the fence and vanish into the dark on our neighbour’s property.

“While inspecting the property, we stumbled over a rucksack filled with packets of meat and other meat packs scattered around up to the wall over which the man jumped and where he also dropped his sandals.

“Our deep freezer that was filled with meat for the month is empty. We enquired about the owner of the sandals and rucksack and neighbours and friends identified the owner as a short man who is also a resident on our street. We did not want to open a case with the police but we want the man to come and collect his stinking possessions,” the owner said.
