Robbers hammer through wall

The total value of the stolen items is R12 200.

A SHOP owner in Riemvasmaak Extension 5 was robbed on April 7 by robbers who entered the shop by breaking a hole through the brick wall.

According to a police report, the owner, Mohammed Niza, a foreign national, alleged that while sleeping he heard strange sounds. He later realised that it was the sound of bricks being knocked out with a heavy hammer. Then, suddenly, a group of men entered the shop, in Achmat Dangor Street, through a hole in the wall. They entered shouting that they wanted money and cellphones. The suspects managed to take R1 500 in cash, a till machine, cigarettes, airtime vouchers and four cellphones. A case of business robbery was registered with the Eden Park Police. The total value of the stolen items is R12 200. Police are investigating.
