Burglars clean out Shesa-Nyama

We are pleading with the community to b e on the look out for people selling our goods

THE Shesa-Nyama, in Eden Park, is without equipment after a burglary on Wednesday night, May 4.

Elias Malebane, owner of the business, closed shop on Wednesday and upon his arrival on Thursday morning, found that the door had been broken and all his equipment stolen.

“I am deeply perturbed by the continuous break-ins at these stalls. This is the third break-in since I started the business in 2014. Just when you think the burglaries have stopped and everything is back to normal, the low-class thieves strike again,” Elias told the RECORD.

The RECORD also spoke to the owner’s wife, Mabatho Malebane, who alleged that the burglars stole their newly acquired ice-cream machine valued at R40 000, popcorn maker, two-plate stove, pots, chips fryers and bags of charcoal.

She said, “These goods will probably be sold to shops in the area. We are pleading with the communities of our surrounding areas as well, to be on the lookout for people selling the mentioned goods. The total value of our losses is about R150 000.”

It is alleged that the CCTV camera at the centre clearly shows the burglars pushing the ice-cream machine away. This footage is being scrutinised by the SAPS for further evidence.

Burglars gained entry into the shop through a hole in the wall where they knocked the bricks out and then broke the door to enable them to get their loot out.

CCTV footage shows that the burglary took place at 03:00.

Eden Park SAPS is investigating a case of business burglary.
