THE police have been hitting the streets to search for anyone who has an outstanding warrant of arrest to their name.
“No stone will be left unturned. The police are all out to clean the streets, and that was evident when people standing at street corners were checked through Morpho Touch, which is a fingerprint checking machine,” said Sgt Phora Nkuna, spokesperson for Alberton SAPS.
”So far the people tested were negative, but the operation is still continuing; people will be checked randomly to see if they are on the wanted list of the police.” Sgt Phumza Mgedezi was checking people on the streets of Verwoerdpark, with the assistance of W/O Lerymora Mosimanegape, Sgt Fatiwane Mukosi and Sgt Phora Nkuna, on Friday, June 10.
“Together we can make Alberton too small for criminals to live in or to commit crime, by squeezing out crime out,” added Nkuna.
”Let us prevent crime by knowing the people around us. Checking is a simple process which takes less than two minutes.”
