THE EMPD Bumper to Bumper special operation swooped in on Tokoza on Friday, June 17, targeting taverns operating illegally in Tokoza.

Three taverns were raided between 15:00 and midnight, whereupon four illegal operators were arrested and liquor estimated to be worth R700 000 was seized.

The liquor seized from the three illegally operated taverns consisted of beer, ciders and a large variety of spirits.

Four operators from three illegally operated taverns were arrested. A 49-year-old male at Lesedi Lounge, a 27-year- old male from Nkosi Tavern, a 39-year-old female and a 49-year-old male at Backstage Tavern were detained at Tokoza police station where they were charged with operating a tavern without an operating permit. They appeared in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 20.

“Bumper to Bumper will continue to identify and raid all the taverns whose owners deliberately disregard the law by operating taverns without valid permits,”said Lieutenant Colonal Wifred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson.
