A new-born baby boy was found dead on July 9 in a veld at the corners of Shari and Shaba Crescent in Lenasia.
Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg South branch were alerted to the scene after member of public had noticed the body amongst some refuse.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the body partially wrapped in a bloodstained shirt and plastic bag.
The shirt and bag were quickly removed as paramedics assessed the patient. Unfortunately, the child had already succumbed to his injuries.
Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on scene.
