Children risk their lives avoiding speeding motorists
The street has no speed humps to slow don't care motorists, some of whom just come speeding down the road, blowing their hooters.
LEARNERS of Stoneridge Primary School risk their lives daily, when they cross the street going to and from school.
They have to face vehicles speeding along Abraham Street, which has a downhill slope approaching the main gate of the school.

Many parents, who are very concerned about their children’s safety and make it their duty to collect the youngsters children at the gate, have complained to the RECORD about the dangerous crossing.
One parent, Joyce Brown, said: “The metro council must really put up speed humps in this street. Cars come down at dangerously high speeds.
”They don’t seem to care about the lives of the children; there are five-year-old Grade R learners who cross the street.”
This is the fifth publication concerning the matter of speed humps in Abraham Street, near the school.
The RECORD has had numerous discussions in the past with the then ward councillor, Willie Jarvis, who reported that the metro told him that there were fare more important things to attend to – like building clinics.
Despite scholar patrol members doing their best, the crossing is still like an accident waiting the happen, with children putting their lives at risk on a daily basis.
The RECORD forwarded the article to EMM for comment and is awaiting a reply.
