CASTILLIAN Junior College held a Science Day for pupils, recently.
On Friday, August 26, the Grade R class at Junior Colleges Castillian participated in the annual Elizabeth Steenkamp Science Project Day.
These skilful children showed great potential when presenting their experiments to judge Lauren Retief, the school’s human resources manager from Advtech Education. From rocket launching to lava lamps, these little Einstein’s produced experiments of a phenomenal calibre.
The Science Day was started in 2010 by the then Grade R teacher, Elizabeth Steenkamp, who is now the principal.
This initiative was started due to her wish to strengthen mathematics skills and ignite a passion for science. It was also of value to witness the bond between child and parent being reinforced.
“All our little scientists received a trophy and certificate as credit for their huge efforts. This day will always be remembered as one of Junior Colleges Castillian’s highlights,” said Steenkamp.
