EMPD Public Order Policing Unit rounded up 11 wanted suspects who are on red dockets recently.

Dockets on crimes reported are registered at police stations and where the suspects are known, the police go out in search of those suspects so that the cases can be heard in a court of law. Those who fail to report to the police station to make arrangements to appear in court or skip bail are pursued and brought to book.

On Tuesday, September 6, between 06:00 and 22:00, the EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members went out in full force to hunt down suspects on outstanding warrants. The operation yielded 11 suspects in the EMPD Southern and Eastern operational regions. The arrested suspects were facing charges of assault with grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property, reckless and negligent driving, drug peddling and common assault.

The arrests included two dagga peddlers from Katlehong and Eden Park, one for reckless and negligent driving in Katlehong, three for malicious damage to property in Eden Park, one for common assault in Daveyton and four for assault with grievous bodily harm in Eden Park and Reiger Park.

All the crimes were committed as recently as early September and August of this year, save two which were committed in March and April.

The arrested suspects were expected to appear in the respective magistrates’ courts on Thursday, September 8.
