EDEN Park Secondary School is proud of its chess team which has been excelling since 2015 and maintained good form throughout.
The team of eight learners all from the same class had an exceptional 2016. They beat Hoërskool Dinamika (6/5), Hoërskool Alberton (5/4), Bracken High School (5/1) and Alberton High School (5/3).
On July 23 the team played in the district finals where they obtained silver medals with Villa Liza taking gold and Oosterlig bronze.
On September 10 the team competed in the provincial finals for the top school in Gauteng which was taken by Hoërskool Oosterlig with 21.5 points, while Eden Park Secondary’s team obtained second position taking silver with 20.5 points.
The school wishes to take this opportunity to congratulate the boys.
