THE Alberton CPF have arrested two men for an attempted house break-in, in Pieter Uys Avenue in Alberton North.
A member of one of the CPF’s WhatsApp groups saw the suspects in a neighbour’s yard on Monday, 14 November – and asked for assistance.
CPF members and security were dispatched via their radio network and the two perpetrators were apprehended. The SAPS were on the scene a few minutes later.
Luis des Neves, the head patrol co-ordinator, said the two suspects are well known in the area and are suspected nyaope (drug) users.
“These suspected perpetrators are usually the ones you see under bridges and in front of the police station,” added Luis.
“To gain sympathy from prospective victims, they allegedly often use tricks like using a crutch – which can also serve as a place to stash drugs in,” explained Luis.
