School want to lay the foundation of skills at a young age.

A PUZZLE-THON sure is one way to make learning loads of fun.

Junior College’s Castillian’s Puzzle-Thon is a new initiative to create an awareness of how important puzzle-building is.

Statistics have shown a dramatic decrease in primary and secondary maths and science results. For this reason, Junior College’s Castillians felt that it is their responsibility to lay the foundation for these skills by engaging in initiatives such as The Puzzle-Thon.

“The excitement of bringing a puzzle to school to build for this occasion gives the little ones a sense of belonging, as part of their school and their class, and also instils a sense of sharing.

“All our children receive a certificate of participation and the “master” puzzle builders each receive a voucher to spend at Toys R Us,” said Elizabeth Steenkamp, principal.
