Another business robbed in Alberton

CPS called for backup while the suspects' vehicle proceeded down Swartkoppies at about 180km/h.

YET another business robbery has occurred in Alberton.

On Monday, April 3, CPS Security received a panic signal from a local business based on the corner of Swartkoppies and Potgieter streets.

“Upon our arrival on the scene, we noticed that the victims were all laying face down on the floor in the shop,” said Nardus Hollander, a reaction officer for the CPS.

“Five or six suspects, all armed with handguns, fled from the shop and jumped into a white Toyota Corolla,” he added.

SHOT UP: The getaway vehicle with a gunshot through a window.

The reaction officers chased the suspects and an exchange of gunfire took place.

CPS called for backup while the suspects’ vehicle proceeded down Swartkoppies at about 180km/h.

The suspects entered the Alberton Boulevard where several more shots were fired just before the suspects jumped out and fled on foot.

“Unfortunately the suspects managed to escape, but the getaway vehicle was left on-scene with stolen items taken from the robbery,” said Hollander.

No injuries were reported.

EVIDENCE: A bullet casing found in the street following the shoot out.
