Criminal brought to justice

Both cases got placed back on the court roll.

A MAN who was on the run from police has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment after being caught, tried and convicted for his crimes.

“The suspect was arrested in 2014 for house break-in and theft and possession of suspected stolen property,” said Sgt Lindi Moloi, Brackendowns police spokesperson.

“Both cases were provisionally withdrawn pending the rearrest of the accused because he skipped bail,” she added.

Det Molefi Phadu was assigned to investigate both dockets and he worked tirelessly until the suspect was rearrested in 2016.

Both cases got placed back on the court roll and the suspect was put on trial and found guilty, being sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on October 16.
