Suspect arrested on serious charges in Alberton

The effort bore fruit when the suspects’ parents place was identified in Zonkezizwe.

A WANTED suspect was arrested in Alberton recently on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and stock theft.

“A detective from the Embalenhle Police Station at Secunda in Mpumalanga Province sought assistance from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) to locate a suspect who resides in Zonkezizwe who had allegedly committed crimes of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Secunda as well as stock theft at Kliprivier in Johannesburg area,” says Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson.

On December 1 the suspect was apprehended in Alberton by the EMPD Specialised Services Unit members accompanied by the detective from Secunda.

“A week long investigation to trace the wanted suspect in an effort to bring him to book was conducted by the metro police. The effort bore fruit when the suspects’ parents place was identified in Zonkezizwe.

“Following the close surveillance of the house, the suspect was sighted boarding a taxi on Friday afternoon around 4pm from Alberton en route to Johannesburg. The taxi was closed in at 4.30pm on the R59 between Michelle Avenue and Reading Interchange and the suspect was instructed to exit the taxi and was immediately arrested,” added Kgasago.

The 26-year-old male suspect spent the night at the Germiston Police Station and was transported to Secunda the next day (December 2).
