Quick thinking leads to arrest

One of the suspects were wanted for another case.

WHILE everyone else was celebrating love on February 14, CPS Security’s tactical team caught three burglars in Padstow Road in New Redruth at around 1pm.

According to Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director, they received several panic calls from a vigilant CPS client who noticed three suspicious males. Their tactical team was dispatched immediately.

“She saw how one of them jumped over the wall while the other two were standing lookout. They pretended to be digging in the dustbins. When we got there we jumped over the wall and caught them hiding,” said Tyrone.

Ekurhuleni metro police department (EMPD) and the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) were called out and after the use of the Morpho Touch machine, one of the three suspects had an outstanding warrant of arrest for hijacking.

Other legal authorities also arrived on the scene as well as paramedics.

“There were no injuries reported and no firearms found. Another news publication mentioned there were firearms found,” said Tyrone.

A case of attempted housebreak-in was opened. All three were arrested and taken into custody.
