Earlier this month at New Market Mall, I was travelling towards the mall when a white Polo used blue lights to get people out of his way. I then saw him pulling into the parking lot of Newmarket Mall and proceed to park in a parking bay for the disabled.
My passenger and I were also on our way to the mall, and when I saw this happen, I went over to the officer and asked him: “How can you park in the disabled bay?” He arrogantly asked me who I thought I was.
When I told him that he should be upholding the law, he bluntly told me to “f-off”. He then got out of his car and when I tried to take down his details and take a photo of his name tag, I was pushed out of the way and again told to “f-off”.
When he returned, he walked past me, got in the car, opened the window and sarcastically said: “We need more of you.” He then reversed out, threw a middle finger and said “f-you” before driving off.
It looked like he was wearing an Ekurhuleni Drill Instructor uniform. I was gobsmacked at this man’s behaviour! We community members must uphold the law, yet this man can blatantly do what he wants to do. If any of us had parked there, we would have been fined.
It’s absolutely unacceptable!
