Krejcir to appear in Alberton court on Monday

The police told reporters that Radovan Krejcir and his associate will appear in court on Monday November 25.

PRETORIA – National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega told reporters in Pretoria that the police will not be publicly announce the whereabouts of Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir, but will communicate with his legal team.

Phiyega said, “We have noted the High Court’s interdict and we will let lawyers know where he is. However, we cannot let the public know where he is because of safety reasons.”

Krejcir together with his associate were arrested on Friday evening November 22 after the police had ‘obtained a warrant of arrest for about a week’. This happened after a man from the East Rand had reported the incident in June. According to the police, the man said he was assaulted to an extent that he almost died.

The kidnapping charge remains as was originally reported, however, Phiyega suggested that Krejcir could be facing charge of Assault with grievous bodily harm, this contrary to the initial attempted murder as reported earlier

The police say they are confident they have a strong case against Krejcir and his associate. Phiyega went as far as brushing off any suggestions that the case will not amount to anything, just as the recent fraud case against the Czech businessman.

Phiyega said, “Because Krejcir was only arrested on Friday evening, the police were in the process of contacting his legal team about his arrest.”

Krejcir and his associate are expected to appear in Court on Monday morning November 25 in Alberton. Phiyega said the police are expected to make more arrests in future.
