A MAN suspected of being involved in the bombing of a cash-in-transit van belonging to Fidelity Security in November 2018 in Katlehong, where an EMPD officer was seriously wounded, was arrested.
The arrest took place on January 7 at Zonkizizwe.
As soon as information regarding the suspect was received an operational team consisting of EMPD Public Order Policing Task Team, Gauteng CI and Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation members, together with Magma Investigation members, was activated. The team began the process of closely monitoring the suspect.
The suspect was spotted on January 7 around 7.30pm and the operational team cornered him at his house in Sunrise Extension Three in Zonkizizwe. The team recovered an AK47 and 9mm pistols with filed off serial numbers as well as 60 live rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was detained at Zonkizizwe Police Station and is expected to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.
