A JOINT special operation comprising of the EMPD Swat members and SAPS K9 Unit from Johannesburg acted on information about suspected drug-dealers in Phumula location and uncovered 78 packets of nyaope and arrested four suspects.
The raid happened on January 9 in the late afternoon.
A man and a woman were arrested at a rented room where nyaope and cash were found. The arrested suspects led the police to another location in the area where another man and woman were arrested when nyaope was found in their vehicle.
Nyaope, with the total street value of R5 800, was seized and cash totalling R2 700 was confiscated.
The four arrested suspects, aged 25, 26, 28 and 35, were charged at Alberton Police Station with possession and dealing in illicit substances. They were expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on January 10.
