Upon further investigation EMPD members noticed that it was not for the first time the pair got arrested for a similar offence.

A 42-YEAR-OLD male and 32-year-old female were arrested on January 15 in Eden Park for possession of khat.

The arrest took place just before 2pm when officers of EMPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit patrolling the area were approached by a concerned member of the community.

The member informed them about a house in Leyland Street where it was alleged that drug dealing was the order of the day.

The building was raided and in one of the bedrooms, the suspects were found with 150 ziplocks of khat with the estimated street value of R15 000, and R260 cash.

EMPD members noticed it was not for the first time the pair had been arrested for a similar offence.

The duo were locked up at Eden Park police station, and were charged with the possession, and dealing, in illicit substances.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
