Stolen vehicle recovered in Vosloorus

EMPD arrests one suspect for not appearing in court and two for speeding.

ON the weekend of January 25-27, EMPD officers from the Public Order Policing Task Team and High-Speed Unit apprehended three suspects and recovered a stolen light delivery vehicle.

Acting on information from a concerned member of the community, who reported a suspicious deserted white Toyota Hilux Double Cab, Public Order Policing Task Team members went to the Vosloorus area on January 25.

There they found the vehicle next to the intersection of Bierman and Moagi streets. The vehicle was discovered to have false registration plates and had been reported stolen in Kliprivier.

A SAPS forensics team was summoned to investigate the vehicle after which it was towed to the Van Ryn Deep pound for further investigations.

On the same day, police, armed with a warrant of arrest, raided a house on Austen Road in Eden Park where a 24-year-old male was arrested.

The man was wanted for failing to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on November 28, 2018. He is being detained at Eden Park Police Station until his next appearance.

On January 26 at 7.45am on the corner of Hennie Alberts Street and Hart Avenue, a 29-year-old man was arrested. The man, driving a silver Honda Civic, was doing 92km/h in a 60km/h zone.

During an operation on January 27 between Reading Interchange and Voortrekker Road off-ramp, a man, aged 24, was arrested for driving 162km/h on the highway. The driver was on his way to Nelspruit for vacation with three passengers in the car.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to Alberton and Brackendowns police stations respectively. They were charged with reckless and negligent driving and will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
