Smash-and-grab incidents from N12 highway

The perpetrators were armed with a handgun and ran up the embankment to an awaiting vehicle to make their escape on the highway.

MOTORISTS are advised of two smash-and-grab hotspots when using the N12 highway if you are exiting at either Comaro Street or Kliprivier Drive.

According to Glenvista Community Policing Forum (GCPF) on April 24, there was an attempted smash-and-grab at the Kliprivier Drive off-ramp in the morning traffic and in the afternoon traffic a successful mash-and-grab at the Comaro Street off-ramp in the late afternoon.

The perpetrators were armed with a handgun and ran up the embankment to an awaiting vehicle to make their escape on the highway.

A policing response plan between law enforcement, CPF and security will be implemented but residents are advised to be cautious at these intersections.

Don’t leave your valuables in your vehicle where they can be seen and leave a gap between you and the vehicle in front of you when you stop at the traffic lights. In the event of someone approaching your vehicle you will then have room to try and get out of the way to safety.
