The start of electricity woes in Alberton began in January, however, in February; Alberton was left in the dark for seven day.
‘There is no electricity crisis’
After admitting some of the service delivery challenges exposed by regular power outages in Ekurhuleni, Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Councillor Mondli Gungubele emphasised, “There is no crisis with regards to power outages in these instances.”
Most of Alberton was affected by power failure and had raised concern on the matter. Gungubele said the metro had invested R1.1 billion in maintaining the electricity infrastructure.
Council communication fails residents
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality failed to communicate efficiently with regards to power outage in Alberton.
