News that shocked Alberton in 2013

No parent should ever have to deal with the death of their child, yet Alberton has lost three of its jewels in the same year.

ALBERTON – Not long before Christmas and two days before their son’s birthday, the Robertson family lost their son Peter who was shot by former neighbour Dave Ridgway.

Earlier in the year, while the country had former President Nelson Mandela in their thoughts on his birthday, Paul Nothnagel shot his two daughters, left his ex-wife Linda in critical condition before turning the gun on himself.

A week after the horrific incident where two teenagers lost their lives, a man was found dead in his home in New Redruth on Thursday August 25. A murder which was also surrounded a few controversies after the security guard who arrived first at the scene was arrested but later released.

As Alberton would rather forget these incidents, the RECORD continues to think of these incidents as unfortunate and wishes the families would continue to find strength in one another.
