EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit’s crime prevention operation resulted in an arrest of two suspects on October 24 in Roxton in Alberton.

Metro police officers patrolling an informal settlement in Union Street, frisked two suspects, aged 26 and 39. They claimed to be getting fresh air, but were busted with 14 green knotted packets containing nyaope valued at R1 400.

It was discovered that one of the suspects was arrested more than once for a similar offence, both in November 2018 and March this year.

Both suspects were booked at Alberton Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance.

They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
