Battery thieves tracked down

Sentinel security arrested three suspects they were looking for for around a week in connection with battery theft.

Sentinel Security arrested three suspects in connection with battery thefts in Alberton on November 11.

They had been searching for the suspects for about a week.

The Sentinel control operators received a call from a client around 11am who said his battery had just been stolen by suspects in a white Toyota Cressida.

The tactical teams were dispatched and shortly afterward they spotted the vehicle in question.

Sentinel members pulled the suspects over and they fled in all directions.

The security officers gave chase and managed to apprehend three of the suspects. One suspect escaped.

Upon searching the vehicle officers found stolen batteries and housebreaking implements.

The vehicle used by the suspects had its vehicle identity number filed off and there was no licence disc.

The suspects, tools, batteries and vehicle were taken by the SAPS.
