Ekurhuleni endorsement welcomed by Minister of State Security

Chinese communities from across South Africa came together for an endorsement event for the first time in Ekurhuleni.

EAST RAND – Ekurhuleni was the venue of a very important national endorsement event on Sunday April 13, where Minister of State Security Siyabonga Cwele presided over an endorsement by the leaders of the Chinese community of South Africa.

Chinese communities from across South Africa came together for an endorsement event for the first time in Ekurhuleni. There are currently an estimated 300 000 people of Chinese decent and Chinese community members in South Africa. The Chinese community is well organised and represented by more than 80 individual organisations.

Ekurhuleni is home to two of the largest Chinese communities in Bedfordview and Edenvale. On 7 May, voters will decide on who will govern and represent the citizens of our country in provincial and national government elections. It is important for communities to endorse political parties of their choice and alight their community members as political stakeholders.

The ANC Suburban Task Team Head Neil Diamond and the Chinese Community leader Mr Li Xinzhou hosted the Ekurhuleni endorsement event. On welcoming the endorsement by the Chinese community, Minister Siyabonga Cwele said, “Every item and issue is important to voters and they will have an impact on you regardless of whether you vote or not, we are humbled by this endorsement of the Chinese community and strongly urge all registered voters to vote”.

The meeting was attended by more than 500 leaders of the Chinese community and various leaders of the ANC, including the Ekurhuleni regional chairman, Moses Makwakwa.
