Crèche owner charged with assault

Assault case against a crèche owner was opened according to the complainant's statement at the Brackendowns police station

BRACKENHURST – A Case of assault with grievous bodily harm was opened at Brackendowns SAPS on April 15 against a crèche owner.

According to reports, the complainant had dropped off her two children at an aftercare facility. Normally the children are fetched by the aftercare for the afternoons.

She was contacted by the owner of the crèche at about 19:00 to come and pick her children up. The complainant told the RECORD that she was then assaulted when she arrived there to pick her children up at about 19:30.

When the RECORD contacted the crèche owners for comment, they choose not to comment since it might jeopardise their case. However, they gave the undertaking to give the RECORD the full details of the events when they are ready.

Police reported that the man against whom the case was opened, appeared in court on April 17 and again on April 24.

The case is still under investigation. The RECORD awaits the outcome of the court case.

  1. Firstly, what parent fetches their children this time of the night? I am one of the many parents who understand that 6 pm is the latest, even in emergencies, you phone someone to collect your kids. Secndly, the case was not investigated correctly. The owner and husband were assulted, sworn at and threatened by the complainant. However, both the husband and wife get charged. They were not allowed to lay charges at the Brackendowns Police Station on the night and last heard, due to numerous complaints, only in the last two days. This is clearly an example of a one sided story. I used to believe everything I read in newspapers, but not until it happens to someone you know. The truth will come out in court and we hope the media will publish the true story, about incompentency, racism and various other issues relating to this story. Watch this space, as we see the wheels of justice turn.
