Charlemagne Sam and Principal Mr Van den Bergh held up the frame with Charlemagne's blazer and picture. The bottom of the frame shows Charlemagne Sam, commonly known as Sam, who was the first head boy of Alberton Primary, then known as Alberton English Medium School in 1951. He is also the first person in Alberton to achieve Springbok colours in 1958 in boxing. We are proud of his achievements.
ALBERTON – It is official: Alberton Primary School is in the process of creating a full wall of fame for all those who have attended Alberton Primary and have successfully achieved their goals over a lifetime of experiences.
Charlemagne Sam, Alberton boxing legend, will be the first on the list to have his image on the wall of fame at the school.
“We are fortunate enough to put his blazer and photo on the wall of fame,” said Principal Mr Van den Bergh.
Charlemagne Sam is very excited to be honoured by the school.
“We have to give recognition to people who have achieved their goals in life,” said the principal.
