ALBERTON – Blessings blankets are often associated with babies, but many miracles of healing, physical, spiritual and emotional, have been attributed to the blankets throughout the years.

Staff at the AMCARE Centre of Faith, Hope & Love in New Market Park working with abused women and children, in conjunction with Alberton Methodist Women’s Auxilliary, are now appealing to the community for donations of double-sided polar fleece fabric in order for victims to be taught how to make these blankets.

“We believe that a project such as this can help these women heal emotionally and teaches them a skill they otherwise wouldn’t have had,” says Marihet Infantino, social work manager at AMCARE.

“We will then donate these blankets to organisations such as Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services, child welfare organisations and centres caring for the homeless,” Marihet explained.

Anyone who can assist, are asked to contact Marihet or Judy Allen on 011 869 5856.
