The Glen Robbery: Security officer was shot

The Apple iStore at The Glen Shopping Centre was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday evening at 18:30

OAKDENE – A group of men posing as customers entered the iStore at about 18h30 and held staff at gunpoint. They left with various Apple products.

According to a shopper who was there at the time, she said, “This is the second armed robbery at The Glen in a month. Surely they need to up their security.”

D&D Tactical Security arrived at the store, reacting to a panic alarm signal. Glenvista Community Policing Forum was on the scene and said management at IStore remained tight lipped about the robbery. “The staff were offered access to their Victim Support Unit, but declined,” said a GCPF member.

The suspects made their escape through the exit near Nando’s and shot a security guard in the leg. EMS attended the scene and treated the guard who was in a stable condition before he was transferred to a local hospital.

According to Dean Myburgh (Centre Management The Glen), “He’s doing well at the Netcare Union Hospital.”

  1. This is the 2nd ISTORE shopped to be robbed.. First cresta and now the glen.. Wr next.. But now in the article it says they escaped at the Nandos exit.. But the car park is controlled by a boom gate????? Explain??? How did they go thru the boom gate????

  2. I work in The Glen and the information in the article is not accurate as the suspects escaped through the exit by Sausage Saloon, not Nandos! @johan – the suspects could not have been bothered by the fact that a boom gate stood in their way, the simply drove through it. the boom was only replaced later this week

people in the shopping center, both employees and customers, no longer feel safe as this is the 2nd armed robbery in The Glen within the space of 2 months
