Family business: Two brothers have been arrested, the one for possesion of Kat worth R120 000 and the other for bribing a Metro police officer

ALBERTON – The suspect has been under surveillance because of suspicious activity relating to narcotics.

Metro Police suspected that the man was supplying narcotics to areas of Alberton and Germiston. The suspect was arrested on October 21 in Leondale. The suspect was in possession of a drug known as Kat to the value of R120 000.

The 34-year-old man’s Daihatsu Sirion was searched and EMPD found 631kg of Kat.

Thirty minutes after the suspect was arrested, his brother was arrested in Voortrekker Road, Alberton for offering a bribe to a metro police officer. He offered the police R10 000 to look the other way in respect to his brother’s offence.

The suspects brother was arrested after he attempted to bribe a police officer.

A charge of possession and dealing in illicit substances was laid against the 34-year-old and the 37-year-old brother was charged with bribing the police at Alberton police station. They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
