Robbery suspects killed in shootout

The suspects started shooting at the police after they realised they were being followed.

THOKOZA – SAPA reported that two suspected robbers were killed in a shootout in Thokoza's Khumalo Road on Wednesday November 19.

It is believed the suspects realised that they were being followed and they immediately started shooting at the police on Khumalo Road.

The police was carrying out an operation on the evening after receiving information about a planned robbery at a shop and butchery.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini told SAPA that two suspects were fatally wounded and six arrested. A Ford Fiesta reported hijacked in Jeppe was recovered, along with three pistols.

The six are due to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court to face charges including conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
