Thieves tunnel into liquor store

An open tunnel-like break-in through stores greeted owners when they opened for business as usual at the Old Shopping Centre on Monday, January 12.

ALBERTON – The burglars, suspected to be the usual nyaope-smoking gang that hangs out around the shops, entered through a hole made at the first shop (Shesha-Nyama) and from there a second hole was made into Ghetoo Glitz, a takeaway shop, and finally a third hole into the liquor store. The thieves got away with all the liquor in the stall.

“We are really tired of the nyaope drug addicts who break into our stalls almost every three months. We open cases with the police, but nothing ever happens and nobody is ever arrested. Everything stolen in Eden Park is sold in Phola Park, where no questions are asked,” said a very frustrated owner who asked not to be named.
