A resident of Petersen Street was hijacked on Saturday evening January 24 in Daimler Street near a tavern. It is alleged that while the driver was sitting in his Hyundai car close to the tavern, he was approached by four armed men. The hijackers demanded the car keys, which the driver instinctively pulled out of the ignition and threw them into the thick grass nearby.

Three of the armed thugs went searching for the keys, while one held a gun to the car owner. It took some time, but the key were ultimately found. The car owner ran into the tavern, while shots were fired in his direction. The four thugs sped off at high speed.

Residents are now worried about the sudden increase of hijacking incidents in the area. Many are asking whatever happened to E.P.C.W (Eden Park Community Watch) which was launched on October 18 at Opelweg Primary, where members were introduced to the community.
