Stolen property recovered

Two men have been arrested for the theft of jewellery and a vehicle in the Alberton squatter camp.

ALBERTON – The two men aged 22 and 25 were recently arrested after they were in the possession of stolen jewellery. The jewellery was stolen from a house in Alberton North. A motor vehicle was also stolen out of the yard.

When the two men tried to get away, they damaged a shack and the fence of a factory. The owner also reported that she was intimidated by the two men.

Police were notified of the disturbance and they arrested one of the men. According to the police the suspect was found in his shack and he pointed out his accomplice.

They have been charged with housebreaking and theft, theft of a motor vehicle, malicious damage to property and intimidation.

The car, some of the jewellery, a bank card and cellphones has been recovered.
