A resident informed the RECORD that the Parks Department removed a fallen tree from the damaged portion of the road, but was told that the Roads and Transport Department had responsibility for the clean-up and repair of the remaining wreckage.
Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Themba Gadebe stated that there has been a delay in the process of repair due to the initial contractor dropping out.
The city has made a new requisition order with a second contractor, and is expected to begin reconstruction before the end of March. The repair process is estimated to take two weeks at most.
