Shoplifters caught

TWO stores at New Redruth Village were targeted by shoplifters on Friday, March 9.

ALBERTON – Outdoor Warehouse and Woolworths both caught suspected shoplifters after staff noticed suspicious people in the store and alerted security.

Outdoor Warehouse employees alerted security to the presence of two people in the store with clothing stuffed down the front of their pants. The security guards chased the two suspects and found one blue jacket in the bush behind the store. CPS and Fox both assisted in detaining the suspects. SAPS arrived on the scene and arrested the two men. The Outdoor Warehouse manager, Sean Scholtz, thanked the CPS and centre management for their quick response to the incident.

Woolworth’s staff also discovered a shoplifter in their store. A teller spotted a woman trying to steal five slabs of chocolate, and security was alerted when the woman tried to leave with the merchandise. The security guard attempted to stop the woman and she fled. She was detained by security until SAPS arrived and made the arrest.
