The u.12 rugby team will play in Toulon and Monaco in France from April 11 to April 16. They departed from OR Tambo on April 7. It is reported that President Jacob Zuma has been invited to bid the team goodbye and that he will highlight the unity of sports between the two countries.
Princess Charlene of Monaco (Charlene Whitstock of South Africa), invited the u.12 rugby team to compete against France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Russia, Wales, Englang and Abu Dhabi.
The team coach, Selwyn January, a former teacher at Eden Park Primary School, will be accompanied by two Springbok seven’s coaches and three sevens players. The South African Legends Association will be covering all costs related to the trip.
“Founded in 2009, the international competition between young u.12 players is an opportunity to meet other children from across Europe, and to discover cultures and people who live a different life. This makes the children aware of the importance of learning foreign languages,” said January.
