It is alleged by an eyewitness, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, that the deceased was shot by a man travelling in a silver Toyota Camry.
“The silver car with four occupants with black hoodies drove into Judson Street, with two speaking on their cellphones. Suddenly the car made a U-turn and sped back into Abraham Street.
“Still surprised by the speeding car, we suddenly heard three gun shots, and then again another five shots going off. Everybody ran toward the corner to see what was happening. I just saw a man lying face down near a gate, and a man walking slowly to the silver car with a gun in his hand. The car slowly drove away, ” said the witness. The man died instantly
According to a family member the shooting was a result of a gang-related issue between two gangs of Reiger Park, the Terribles and the Sour Boys. It is further alleged by the family member that the gangsters have been after Kelvin since 2010.
The deceased had three children, and he and his present girlfriend were expecting his fourth child. She is five months pregnant.
Bystanders said that they immediately phoned the police, but that police only arrived half an hour later.
Inspector S Khoza, who was on the scene, said that evidence shows that the shooting was done execution style. There were two holes at the back of the victim’s head, and when they turned the body over, two holes were found on the tarred surface where the head was positioned.
A murder case was opened and police are still trying to find more possible eyewitnesses, who are willing to give statements and information.
