ACTIVE COMMUNITY: Sgt Mgedezi (in the blue top) shows that there are many ways that a community can come together and learn about ways to stand together against crime. The netball games taking place in Alberton North’s squatter camp is one of the few programmes that Alberton SAPS are running, and they encourage anyone with new ideas to come forward.
ALBERTON – During her latest visit, she was accompanied by the victim support unit. They took this opportunity to hand out Easter eggs and talk about social issues.
In a light-hearted gathering they shared jokes and were able to talk about pressing issues for those living in the squatter camp. Some of these issues were domestic violence in nature and will be attended to by police.
According to Alberton SAPS, the informal settlement welcomed the police, they would like to thank all those who were involved for this openness.
